Back From Chicago: What’s Next in Bridal Fashion (And What’s Here to Stay)

Twice a year, the bridal industry gives us a glimpse into what’s next and we don’t just sip coffee and scroll through the photos afterward.
We travel to the bridal market to see the newest collections in person, meet with designers, examine gowns up close and hand-select the dresses we believe Colorado brides will love. We recently returned from Chicago Bridal Market, where we got an early look at the styles that will begin arriving in bridal boutiques between late fall and early 2027.
So, what did we see? Some exciting new details, some evolving silhouettes and something else we think brides should know: many of the looks brides are loving right now aren’t going anywhere.
Why Bridal Market Matters
Traveling to the market isn't just about finding pretty dresses.
When we evaluate a gown for Platinum Bridal, we are looking at a lot of important criteria: How does the fabric feel? Does the gown have the structure it needs? How will it fall and move? Is the cut flattering on different body types? Does the quality justify the price?
Most importantly: Would one of our brides feel incredible in it?
That is the difference between simply carrying wedding dresses and curating a bridal collection. Every gown at Platinum Bridal is hand-selected with our brides in mind. We want beautiful, current gowns with exceptional quality and construction at price points that make sense.
One of the Biggest Trends? Dramatic Bodices Are Still Going Strong
If you’ve been looking at wedding dresses lately, you’ve probably noticed the dramatic bodice treatments showing more skin through the center of the gown.
This was a major look for Fall 2026, and we saw it continuing into Spring 2027. Designers are evolving the details, but the overall look remains very much part of bridal fashion. Translation for brides shopping now: you don't necessarily have to wait for next season to get the look.
Many of the elements appearing in the newest collections are already
represented in the Fall 2026 gowns arriving now.
Volume Is In, But Versatility Is Even Better
We also saw plenty of volume, including fuller details and dramatic shapes around the hips.
But one evolution caught our attention: options.
Some designers are creating gowns with removable elements, allowing a bride to embrace a more fashion-forward, voluminous silhouette and then remove that detail for a different look.
We love seeing bridal fashion move in this direction because it gives brides more ways to make a gown their own.
“New” Doesn't Mean Everything Changes
This may be one of the most useful things we've learned from attending this industry event year after year.
Bridal fashion evolves, but it doesn't completely reinvent itself every season.
There are always a few looks that make us stop and say, Okay, that's new. But many of the strongest trends continue from one season into the next, with designers changing a neckline, adding versatility, reworking a silhouette or introducing a new fabric or detail.
That means a bride doesn't need to chase whatever has been declared the newest trend online.
The better question is: What do you love, and what looks incredible on you?
